3D Infrared Body Scan

There are NO contraindications for this scan. The maximum body weight is 150kg for the equipement.

As there is no radiation, it can be safely used at any frequency for monitoring and tracking progress and can be safely used in pregnancy, however, as our bodies change during pregnancy, you may want to still wait till after you've had your baby.

 

​DEXA scans (Body composition and Bone Health):

Absolute contraindications (you cannot have the scan) if you:

• Are pregnant: DEXA scans are avoided during pregnancy due to the radiation involved.

• A recent DEXA scan <6 months

• You recently had contrast material or radionuclides: The presence of these substances from recent medical tests (like a barium meal or IVP) can interfere with the scan results and require a delay until they have passed through the body.

• You are unable to lie still or be positioned: You must be able to lie still and maintain the correct position for an accurate measurement.

Relative contraindications or limitations if you:

• Are severely overweight: Some machines have weight limits (e.g 150 kg for 3D scans and 204kg on DEXA machines). Extreme body weight can affect the ability to get a clear image or place the client correctly.

• Have severe degenerative changes or deformities: Conditions like severe arthritis or spinal deformities can make accurate measurements difficult.

• Have metal implants: Hardware like surgical implants can interfere with the accuracy of the scan.

• Recent had nuclear medicine studies: Some nuclear medicine tests may leave residual radioactivity that can interfere with the detector.

VO2 Max/VO2 Fat Max

​Absolute contraindications (you cannot have the scan) if you:

• Have unstable angina

• Recent myocardial infarction (MI) (within 3–5 days)

• Have uncontrolled irregular heart beat/arrhythmias with symptoms

• You have been told you have an severe aortic valvue narrowing and you have symptoms or aortic dissection

• Have uncontrolled heart failure

• Have a clot in your lung (pulmonary embolus or infarction)

• Have a current inflammation of your heart

• Are currently unwell with symptoms/fever

• Have uncontrolled asthma 

• Are taking certain medications may be also a contraindication (such as beta-blockers).

• Have been told that you have a L-bundle brand block on your heart tracing (ECG)
